Why run with us?

The BTC Francistown Marathon is an annual event that is targeted at local and international athletes, with a special 5-kilometre peace run category for children. The distance categories are 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km.

BTC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme which is run through the BTC Foundation is one of the many ways BTC has cemented its place as a company that advocates for and supports community upliftment projects. This is driven by the firm belief that while corporate growth and profitability are essential, the company must pursue societal goals related to sustainability development. Our aim is to transform lives of people in communities we operate in through giving back to the communities to create a positive impact.

BTC is proud to have partnered with the Francistown Athletics Club (FAC), a local athletics club registered with Botswana Athletics Authority (BAA) to assist with coordinating the BTC Francistown Marathon for inclusivity with the local community. Proceeds from the marathon will be donated to various charities and beneficiaries in the Greater Francistown and North-East region.

Our objectives for hosting the marathon in Francistown include, amongst others.

To positively impact the lives of our communities in pursuit of social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
To provide a platform that offers opportunities for commercial mileage for host communities, thus boosting the economy of the city of Francistown.
To maintain, promote, and support community upliftment projects throughout Botswana by partnering with stakeholders for long-term sustainable projects.
To offer a platform that may be used to drive sports developments from ground roots.
